Not Blues for Kids

....but blues BY kids! 12 year-old Gunnar Roads tears it up at the A&E stage as part of the New Blues segments of Friday's shows.

He switched to electric guitar later on.

Eugene's Hank Shreve made a splash when he played at Paul deLay's Memorial Concert at the Portland Art Museum and he's working his way up. He's with Gunnar's band currently, among others. Nice way to get seen.

These kids are amazing. Guitar legends Robbie Laws and Kenny "Blue" Ray (who just relocated to Portland) are teaching these young guitar players. Howlin' Wolf's guitar player Hubert Sumlin told TJ Moor that he should come down to Mississippi and play with him. I took TJ back stage at the main stage where Hubert was resting before going on and when Hubert saw TJ, he welcomed him with a big hug and they chatted for a while.
Hank Shreve is one to watch for sure and he is as nice as he is talented.
